Sustainability is a deeply rooted core value of the OeAD student housing. The not-for-profit company has been building innovative and award-winning student guesthouses as passive houses and beyond since 2005, such as our temporary and flexible wooden containers called PopUp dorms, GreenHouse is the first EnergyPLUS-student residence worldwide; the OeAD-Guesthouse mineroom is the globally first high-volume wooden student dorm in passive house standard. Overall we host 2.500 students and guest lecturers in eight energy efficient and innovative student dorms per year. Additionally, we organize two acadmic summer universities focusing on the topic of sustainability: - Green.Building.Solutions. (GBS) and - Alternative Economic and Monetary Systems (AEMS) The GBS Summer University aims at increasing knowledge of and raising awareness for sustainability in the field of building, construction and urban planning. With a duration of three weeks, the academic program takes place for the 12th time from July 16 to August 6, 2022. Against the background of the climate crisis, the AEMS Summer School is an interdisciplinary program focusing on alternatives and reform proposals for our current growth-based economic and financial systems. The program takes place for the 8th time from July 18 to August 5, 2022.
