She was known to many people as the mother of Tennis Player Mara Sotto Fortuna and a sister of artist Marie Pauleen Luna Sotto. As per our sources, Mabel Sotto is now no more among us. She died on 18th February 2023. Her news of the death was first confirmed by her sister Marie Pauleen Luna-Sotto. She died due to liver cirrhosis with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma on February 18, 2023. Her last rituals were done at Heritage Park Taguig. Her death news has been mourned by the Sotto family and many followers of Mabel.

It does not know where she spent her childhood but she was living in Manila at the time of her death.

She went to Pilar College, Zamboanga City, and completed her high schooling there in 1979. She then graduated from Silliman University in 1983. Then she also had an Interior Designing certificate from Philippine School. Mabel also had her Mass Communication internship in GMA 7 Manila.
