The late Bollywood icon Sridevi stood as one of the most revered actors in Hindi cinema, alongside the legendary Amitabh Bachchan. While many actors aspired to share the screen with Bachchan to boost their careers, Sridevi held firm in her resolve not to play second fiddle to him, expressing her desire to be part of women-centric films. It reportedly took a truckload of roses, sent by Bachchan himself, to convince Sridevi to co-star with him in the 1992 film Khuda Gawah.

In the book Sridevi: The Eternal Screen Goddess by Satyarth Nayak, the late choreographer Saroj Khan, who collaborated with Sridevi on a song, recalled the memorable moment when a truck arrived, tilting over and showering the actor with roses. Although the gesture left a lasting impact on Sridevi, she still felt there wasn't enough substance for her character. To address her concerns, she insisted on playing both the wife and daughter of Amitabh in the film. Filmmakers Manoj Desai and Mukul Anand agreed to her condition, and the duo starred together in Khuda Gawah, marking one of the significant successes in their filmography.

Prior to Khuda Gawah, Ramesh Sippy had also planned to cast Sridevi and Amitabh Bachchan in his film Ram Ki Seeta Shyam Ki Geeta, where both actors were set to portray double roles. The popular song Jumma Chumma was intended for this film, with Saroj Khan revealing that the sequence involved Amitabh as a cop catching Sridevi as a pickpocket. However, the film never materialised, and the song was eventually filmed with Amitabh Bachchan and Kimi Katkar for the 1991 movie Hum.

The last on-screen collaboration between Bachchan and Sridevi was in Gauri Shinde's 2012 film English Vinglish, where Bachchan made a special appearance, offering a glimpse of their enduring on-screen chemistry.
